Och - Angel of Perfect Health

Angel IofielTo heal is to restore health or soundness, to set right and repair, and to restore spiritual wholeness. There are legions and legions of angels who attend to the healing of humanity’s body, mind, and spirit. Raphael is typically head of the entire endeavor of healing for humanity, the angelic kingdoms, plants, animals, matter, all things animate and inanimate. (Och is also a mineralogist.) Yet there is one special angel who has leadership of a particular kind of healing: the alcemical process of the human body. In the popular lore of talismans Och can be invoked and asked for 600 years of perfect health.

Och is a citizen of the Sun, and an angel of the Dawn. (Other angels of the Sun are Uriel, Metatron, Zerachiel, Arithiel, Galgaliel, and Gazaria. I guess God is making sure somebody will be awake to start each day!) Exodus, 118a of The Zohar, says that the Angel of the Sun at dawn “steps forth with the holy letters of the supernal blessed Name inscribed upon his brow, and in the power of those letters opens all the windows of Heaven.”

According to some sources Och rules one seventh of heaven’s many levels. E. A. Wallis Budge, in Amulets and talismans, says he rules exactly 36,536 legions of angels!

Och's Message

“Think of your body as millions of tiny engines working independently and together. Together the cells form the organs, yet each cell is its own little radiant self with intake and outflow! In addition these millions of engines are operating 24 hours a day, countless hours of a lifetime.

In order for any engine to work at full tilt it needs appropriate fuel. An engine can work with fuel that is only so-so, but it cannot work with no fuel. The fuel for your human body is the food and drink you consume. (It is the air you breathe in. It is also the thoughts you think, and the deeds you perform, yet those are the special provinces of Och’s other angel friends. Och has chosen to specialize in your body chemistry.) Pray over all the food you eat, ask that it be blessed. Bless the growers, shippers, and processors, everyone and everything that is involved in the chain the food makes coming to you.”
