In the Cabala Orifiel is the angel of the wilderness. Orifiel can be found in the literal wilderness, in the large wild tracts of land that are unsettled, uncultivated, left in their natural condition. Orifiel can be found in the desert or oceans that are vast, empty, or barren. He can be found in the wild regions of dense forest, the great plains of free standing grass. Wherever there is an untouched area, remaining just as it was when God first made it, then Orifiel dwells there. Orifiel can also found in the symbolic wilderness, our inner mind, the parts of us that are not swayed by guile, worldliness, or greed.

Orifiel is an angel prince in the order of thrones. Another name for the thrones is Ofanim. The dominant characteristic of the throne angels is the virtue of steadfastness: constancy, firm loyalty. According to Hebrew rabbinical writings all the Jewish patriarchs become ofanim angels on arriving in Heaven.

Ezekiel described the throne angels as "full of eyes round about" and says they are fiery. They are also seen sometimes as wheels full of eyes. The eyes symbolize full, awake consciousness. The throne angels participate in the energy of God which truly is always awake, energized, alive, sees all and knows all!

This is a time to examine what is natural and untouched about your own inner nature. It is a time to go inward and let go of all outer trappings, all things learned and cultivated. When you come in touch with the vastness of yourself, all that which is unknown, fresh, untainted, then you can start again on your well-trodden life paths with a renewed vigor born of your own inner truth.

Orifiel’s "extra vision" created by his fiery halo of many eyes says that in this time of examination you will be especially able to see to the heart of yourself.

This is a time to seek to be touched by nature, preferably by going to a wilderness area for a retreat. If all you can do at this time is spend an hour in a local park, then do that. In nature, in its original, pristine self, you will find the steadfast constancy your heart needs to feel fulfilled.

Imagine yourself deep in a forest. This is a forest where the birds sing and fly through sundappled open stretches. The light in the forest comes down from high overhead, through the tallest trees you could ever imagine.

You have a sense that no one has every been to this part of the forest before. There is something about it that is pristine. Something about this forest lets you know the peaceful, unafraid animals here have never seen a human being. Here is truly a peaceable kingdom, where all creatures live in harmony.

Ahead of you, through the trees, comes an angel dressed in the greens and browns of the forest herself. It is the angel Orifiel, and with him comes the smell of moss, sunlight on pineneedles, the sounds of small creatures moving through the leaves, and water leaping over stones in streams.

All these sounds, smells, and sights allow you to return to a pure state within your own heart. Focus on the feelings and thoughts welling up within you in this wilderness. Allow the feelings of renewal to deepen and clarify your heart. This pure vitality spills into your life, bringing new insight, fresh beginnings.
